Types of Violent Crimes

Penalties for Violent Crimes
First, penalties can vary for violent crimes. Thus, under Florida Statute Section’s 775.082 and 775.083, they have statutory minimum penalties. Yet, these penalties can increase or have mandatory minimum sentences. Moreover, these depend on the offense, the victim, where it occurred, and whether a weapon was used during the offense. As well as, whether the offender has a previous criminal conviction.
A Second-degree Misdemeanor
- Up to 60 days in jail
- a fine up to $500
A First-degree Misdemeanor
- Up to 1 year in jail
- a fine of or not more than $1,000
A Third-degree Felony
- Up to 5 years in prison
- a fine not to exceed $5,000
A Second-degree Felony
- Up to 15 years in prison
- a fine not to exceed $10,000
A First-degree Felony
- 30 years to life in prison
- a fine not to exceed $10,000
