We Fight For Your Compensation
There are many instances of people leaving compensation on the table after being injured in a car accident. When it comes to your injuries, there may be long-term physical therapy or other expensive medical treatments required.
Don’t let these costs pile up without adequate compensation from the at-fault party’s insurance company. We are ready to fight the insurance company to ensure you get what you deserve and need to get back to normal.
Our goal is to take the stress and burden off your shoulders in dealing with the insurance company, so you can focus on your recovery. We will handle the paperwork, phone calls, and other work to litigate your case effectively. Our average track record for case management is to reach settlement within 9 to 12 months, which is considerably faster than most other law firms.
Best of all, RHINO Lawyers works on a contingency fee basis, meaning you don’t pay us a cent unless we win your case.
Florida: A No-Fault State
Per state law, auto insurance policies are required to carry “no-fault” coverage. This means that you can file a claim with your auto insurance provider under the Personal Injury Protection (PIP) portion of your coverage regardless of whether you are at fault or not. PIP coverage is somewhat limited in that it carries limits of 80% of medical bills and 60% of lost wages. Those percentages are on the higher end, meaning you may not see that amount of compensation actually come in with your claim.
PIP also mandates you seek treatment within 14 days of the accident. Some people may not even know the extent of their injuries after 14 days, especially with neck or spinal issues. If you do not seek treatment immediately, you risk losing out on the compensation you will need.
If you do seek medical treatment within this 14-day period, we strongly recommend you keep a copy of all receipts and medical bills for your records. These documents will come in handy with building your case.
What Should You Do After an Auto Accident?
The period immediately following an accident can be stressful depending on its severity. However, it is also a crucial period in terms of building your insurance claim. It is always recommended (and even the law in Florida) that you should move your vehicle out of the road after an accident if able. You should check yourself and your passengers for any injuries. If you require medical attention, please seek it immediately.
Once you have gotten these steps out of the way, the best course of action is to:
- Contact the police right away. They will come out to the scene and file a police report, which will be a useful document in your case.
- Get the other driver’s insurance information.
- Take photos and videos of the scene and any damages to your vehicle or person.
- Speak to any witnesses and gather what information they have regarding how the accident took place. You should also note their contact information so we can follow up with them.
- Keep any and all documents associated with the claim. This includes the police report, any correspondence with your insurance company, and other related matters.
- Contact RHINO Lawyers to initiate your no-obligation case evaluation.
What Type of Damages Can I Seek?
There are multiple areas in which you can seek compensation regarding an auto accident. Some common areas include permanent disability or impairment, significant or permanent loss of important body function, scarring or disfigurement, death, pain and suffering, and lost wages.
There are two main categories of compensation – economic and non-economic damages. Economic damages can include items like lost income, medical expenses, and personal care costs. Non-economic expenses are reserved for things like emotional stress, decrease in quality of life, permanent injuries, etc.
